- Horn is a hard and beautiful material that can be damaged by water, heat and soap.
- Not dishwasher-safe.
- Clean your horn items in lukewarm running water without soap or other cleaning products. Dry off the items immediately. Never soak for a prolonged period.
- Do not allow your horn items to sit for prolonged periods in fluids, e.g. jams, salads or dressings. The duration of a meal is fine.
- You can give a light coating of oil from time to time to prevent horn items from drying out.
Hornvarefabrikken is the only company in Denmark producing arts and crafts made out of horn sourced from domestic cows in Nigeria, Africa (mostly Watussi and Ankole). These horns that would have been typically discarded and burnt are being repurposed into functional and beautiful serveware.
